How to take class at The Boylston Room

AIM is so grateful to have been offered this gorgeous venue to use for our indoor classes until our brand new space is ready! We are excited to continue to offer socially distant classes as we transition to the cooler months.

Where is it?

Located right down the hall from the AIM studios, The Boylston Room is located in The Keystone Mill, 122 Pleasant Street, Easthampton MA. Parking is available in the lot marked “Keystone” across the street from the main entrance.

How to enter and prepare for class:

Masks are required to enter the building. An AIM staff member will greet you at The Bolyston Room door and give you instructions for entering and getting set up for class. Prior to entering the room, all students will be temperature checked. Once a dancer is cleared, they may enter with their belongings and go to their designated dance area which will be marked clearly. Being in this large space allows each dancer to have a 12’ x 21’ space to move freely and safely in. We ask that for all classes, proper footwear is worn, no socks or bare feet at this time. Please refer to the Dress Code info sheet in the Family Portal (under the documents tab).

*Mask protocol is subject to change based on municipal laws at the time of class and family discretion. Please note some classes may be Mask Required at all times.

How to register for class via the parent portal:

  1. Create your account – Enter your basic information and add your student(s).
  1. Select “Register for classes” – see which classes are available for your student(s) and learn more about each style.

  1. Tuition for this 6-week session is $75. Multi-class and sibling discounts are available.
  1. Make your payment electronically, please! This will minimize contact and keep us socially distant. Payments can be made via the Family Portal.  Your account will be charged on Monday October 12. Final payments are due no later than October 30th.

Things to remember:

Restrooms are located down the hall. Please do your best to only use them before and after class. All participants also have a virtually-signed release waiver on file with AIM, which you were prompted to sign when you created your account.

Our COVID procedures:

1. AIM at The Boylston Rooms is nearly 3000 sq ft, with a state permitted capacity of 22. We will limit in-studio class size to 6 dancers and 1 instructor. Additional students may participate via ZOOM.

Parents/families will not be allowed in the Boylston Room. We ask that “waiting room” viewers on ZOOM please keep video and audio OFF and enter the waiting room using their full name.

2. Dancers must maintain 6 feet of social distance at all times or 14 feet of distance if unmasked.

We ask that upon arrival, dancers wait in the hallway and maintain 6 feet of distance until they are temperature checked and cleared to enter class.

The space has two points of egress, so that one door may be used for arrival, and the other for departure, ensuring a safe flow of traffic.

The space will be clearly marked to provide students with clearly defined spaces in which to move. Each dancer will receive a 12 x 21 foot space in which to move freely.

3. Masks are required in public spaces in the Keystone Mill.

Dancers and staff will be asked to keep their masks on. At this time, all classes will be Mask Required, based on CDC/State guidelines. These rules are subject to change and will be clearly stated. Students will be educated about PRE (perceived rate of exertion), and how this might affect their dance experience.

The teacher will be equipped with a pulse oximeter in order to check blood oxygenation levels in the event that a dancer seems to experience breathlessness/difficulty in class.

4. No one experiencing COVID symptoms should participate in a studio class.

Dancers should review our list of symptoms and parents will be responsible for doing an assessment prior to coming to class.

  • Are you experiencing loss of smell, sore throat, cough, lost sense of taste, fever, muscle aches, or difficulty breathing?
  • Have you been tested for COVID-19 in the past 14 days? Are you awaiting test results?
  • Have you come in contact with anyone who has COVID-19 or symptoms in the past 14 days?
  • In the past 14 days has your dancer been in close/extended contact with anyone not wearing a mask who is outside your immediate household?
  • Have you or anyone in your household traveled outside your regular travel bubble in the past 14 days?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, please notify the AIM staff before attending class. This will ensure proper contact tracing.

Dancers will be temperature checked prior to class and anyone with a fever will be dismissed for the day.

5. Workspaces should be cleaned/sanitized between each use.

The class schedule will allow for a 15 minute window between classes, and class start times will be staggered. This time will allow for cleaning of the floor and ballet barres.

The bathroom is a public facility and dancers will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon re-entry to the space.

Studio doors will remain open as much as possible for increased airflow, but the teacher will be the only one to open/close the door.

Frequent deep cleaning of the floors will occur with proper disinfectant.

6. Proper ventilation of the studio spaces is necessary.

The space is equipped with ductless mini-split AC units, and an industrial air purifier. Studio doors will remain open as much as possible to increase airflow.

The CDC notes that spaces with tall ceilings provide for more airflow. Our space boasts 20ft ceilings.
