Welcome to Art In Motion! If you’re reading this, you’re probably new to us or even the world of dance education. That’s great! We are here to help you craft your dance journey. We are proud to offer a true dance education with a community focus. What does that mean? It means our instructors create an amazing studio environment in which to learn the artistry of dance. It means we want to unlock the potential in every dancer we meet. It means we want to bring our love for dance outside the studio walls and bring joy to those around us, and we want you to join us.

Art In Motion offers classes for ages 3-18, as well as adult classes for all skill levels. Our weekly youth classes are segmented by age and skill level, so the content each week is engaging and appropriate for the students. We offer a variety of styles, including:

  • Ballet
  • Jazz
  • Tap
  • Hip Hop
  • Acrobatics

Our “Making Moves” and “Spotlight Series” mini-courses offer a way for students to explore new styles without the season-long commitment of weekly classes.

Adult classes are drop-in based, so busy people can still squeeze in a class or two!

Discover the Artistry of Dance

Art In Motion fosters creativity and artistry in every child. Our classes target the specific developmental needs of each age level, and our instructors strive to connect with every dancer in the room. Through skill-building drills, exercises in improvisation/creative movement, and unique choreography, we bring out the best in each dancer.

“When I joined AIM, I threw myself into a world I knew nothing about. Fast forward 6 months and I have seen an incredible amount of growth in myself. It’s more than just dance, I feel like I have a family there, and we all have each other’s back. The teachers are so kind and patient and they have really helped me grow as a dancer. I am so thankful for the experience because it has given me so much joy and happiness.”

Empowering Life Skills through Dance

Movement predates language as a means of communication. Research indicates that dance can help students learn and improve academic performance. Dance can be used to help students learn to think critically, improve social-emotional skills, and develop abilities needed for success in the creative economy.

But perhaps even more importantly, dance training teaching invaluable “life skills” – traits, habits, and abilities that will help students thrive no matter what path they choose in life. These skills are developed through the process of practicing and refining dance technique, learning and rehearsing choreography, performing or competing on stage, and dealing with the ups and downs, successes and failures, triumphs and disappointments that come with being a dancer.

Dance isn’t just steps in time. Trust, teamwork, self-expression, and discipline are all fostered throughout your dance journey. Kids gain confidence in themselves and strong bonds with the friends they make through dance.

It’s true, dance skills are life skills. You can discover them at Art In Motion.

A Community-Centric Approach

We want every family to feel welcomed and part of a supportive dance family. Our staff is on hand to help families every step of the way, and dialogue about dancers’ goals and progress are always welcome. Special theme weeks bring the fun beyond the classroom, where kids can partake in fun contests, take photos with friends or send notes of appreciation to their fellow dancers. These little lobby events foster a sense of belonging and reinforce friendship and gratitude as part of the learning process.

Beyond the studio, we offer several opportunities for our dancers to connect with the community at large. Participation in parades, local cultural events, and community performances bring the arts to our cities and towns. These events enliven and entertain those around us, and create a stronger audience of arts supporters and patrons. We connect with the community through dance.

Convenience for Busy Parents

You are busy. We get it. Why make time for this activity? Because we make time for you! Our class schedule is specially designed to offer kids a variety of offerings in a convenient manner. We like to “stack” classes, which means a dancer can explore two classes, back to back. This results in 90-120 min of creative, athletic activity for your kiddo, and a little extra time for you to… run errands, read quietly, answer some emails?

We also design our schedule to closely match the public school schedule so vacation days line up seamlessly, no guesswork or last minute vacation changes for you. Our year in review schedule is published each August as well, so you can plan for the season early!
